Context Sensitive Help

At the bottom centre of each selection/input panel there is a HELP button that will display guidance regarding that particular screen.

Demo Mode

In "Demo" mode, GPSANGLER uses GPS data generated by a configurable second program, GPSDRIVER. The demo may be run with a D9F to D9F "null modem" cable connected between two physical COM ports, or utilising internal hardware "stacks". GPSDRIVER responds to the numeric pad arrow keys, as well as the slider and buttons on screen.

A free demonstration version of GPSANGLER and GPSDRIVER is available, complete with sample chart....

Download Demo Zip File Here!

Ensure the extracted files reside in a folder named  "C:\GPSANGLER". Then read the INSTALL.HTML file in that folder. Thanks for trying the product!!

GPS Repeater

The GPS repeater shows current vessel position together with Course Over Ground (COG) and Speed Over Ground (SOG). An ultra large font is used here.

To display the Master menu screen for further functions, left click anywhere in the window.

Recording/Selecting a Target

Interesting/productive marks are recorded for future use via the "RECORD CURRENT POSITION" screen. This facility may additionally be used to record an "MOB", Man OverBoard, situation. To recall a recorded mark, choose SELECT FROM LIST OF MARKS/TARGETS. Note that targets may be created even if no associated chart exists. In fact, it is possible to run GPSANGLER, with some functionality obviously absent, with no charts at all! Having chosen a mark, the system will automatically display a slightly more interesting screen, the Vessel/Target Display....

Vessel/Target Display

Here is the resultant text window showing the Vessel Position etc., Target Position, Bearing (BRG), Distance To Waypoint (DTW) and Turn in degrees. This screen is also selectable from the master menu - choose BEARING TO TARGET DISPLAY.

Notice the absence of "waffle" that would take up valuable space on the screen!

Chart Display

Charts are selected via "SELECT CHART" on the master menu.  This example window has no target set:-

For as long as a particular chart is selected (but not necessarily displayed), a "route trace" will be generated, as seen above. The Chart Display is different from the text screens outlined earlier. Left click anywhere in the text display to show the master menu as normal, but mouse clicks on the chart produce different results...

RIGHT click mouse on chart:- Set mouse position as new target. See "Setting a Target on the Chart".

CENTRE click:- Go instantly to "RECORD CURRENT POSITION" screen.

Notice how well we're doing on the TURN front, only .2 of a degree out!

Here we have a display in the user-defined night colours. Even the grey shading on the chart is configurable!

Vessel/Mark Closeup

When the boat reaches the vicinity of the target, "Vessel/Mark Closeup" may be used to monitor the proximity of the vessel to the mark.

f1shclo2.gif

The facility is most useful for drifting or anchoring over a wreck, reef or other feature.

An audio/visual warning can be set up to indicate that the boat has drifted outside a set limit. From the master menu, choose "SET UP ALARM DISTANCE". As well as potentially indicating that the boat is probably well off the fish, this function is also useful in a "dragged anchor" situation.

Note that "Vessel/Mark Closeup" can be used to precisely set a target, using the right mouse button function.
